UPPERCLASSMEN & UNDERCLASSMEN
UPPERCLASSMEN – THE ROLE YOU PLAY
The role of an upperclassman in our band is probably the most important to the success of the organization. As upperclassmen, you will be given certain privileges. However, along with those privileges certain responsibilities are expected to be upheld (teaching techniques and tradition, running sectionals, etc.) In short, provide a good example of leadership (rather than be used as a bad example!!!)
An upperclassman should…
…be a patient peer and friend.
…provide encouragement and self discipline through example.
…earn the respect of one’s peers by accepting positive criticism.
…instill self-confidence, pride, and spirit by living it.
…teach and motivate by being a positive leader.
UNDERCLASSMEN – THE ROLE YOU PLAY
The role of an underclassman in our band is very important to the future of the organization. As underclassmen, you should work hard to establish yourself, maintain the high ideals of the organization, and learn the traditions and procedures to follow. You should observe the good examples set by upperclassmen and try to repeat those good examples as much as possible. You will learn to tolerate fatigue, reasonable discomfort, and long rehearsals – through all this you will strengthen and grow.
And underclassman should…
…develop loyalty, pride and spirit.
…accept positive criticism, responsibility, and friendship.
…give one’s respect and a solid commitment.
…strive for self discipline and a winning attitude.
…learn and grow as an individual.
