THE MUSIC FACILITY

We at JDJHS are fortunate to have one of the finest music facilities available. In order to keep these fine rooms in the best of condition, the following guidelines should be followed:

1. The instrumental music room will be kept clean and as neat as possible. Gum chewing will not be allowed at any time; deposit gum in the waste can by the door on your way in. Although normal dirt and dust will naturally accumulate, all paper and scraps should be put into the waste cans. Sheer pride in your band room should cause you to bend over and pick up that piece of paper, even though you may not have dropped it. We all use the facility; let’s all keep it clean.

2. The instrument storage room’s purpose is just that. All instruments have a place on the shelves and should be kept in their place, not on the floors, chairs, etc.

3. The percussion room will be used to store all percussion equipment in its proper place on the shelves provided. This room will also be used to clean and maintain this equipment and to rehearse parts of the percussion section. Unless you are a

percussionist, you have no reason to be in the percussion room unless special permission is given. This room is not to be used to change clothes or into uniforms by anyone, including percussionists. This room MUST be kept clean at all times.

4. The auxiliary room will be used to store all flag poles, flags, rifles and other guard equipment. Poles and rifles should be placed in the box at all times. No changing of

clothes or into uniforms will be allowed in this room. This room MUST be kept clean at all times.

5. No type of horseplay in the music rooms will be tolerated at any time. We have too much valuable equipment, too many irreplaceable trophies and plaques, and too many important people to risk to senseless roughhousing. Failure to comply will result in appropriate disciplinary action being taken.

6. All marching band music should be kept in music folders and in its proper place. Take care of your music!

7. The auditorium should be used for performances only, although inclement weather and the necessity to “split up” may make its use necessary. NO ONE will be permitted in the auditorium without the directors or another staff person present.

8. The music office is the center of activity in the instrumental music area. Accessories may be purchased, questions answered, and copies made (by the directors or an officer only). You should feel comfortable coming in the office, however the office SHOULD NOT be considered a lounge. There are many important messages, letters and papers that must not be misplaced. Therefore, NO ONE should be in the office unless one of the directors or a staff member is there, or you have special permission.
