MINI-CAMP
Mandatory mini-camp is help for four evenings starting 3
days before the regular band camp.
Attendance at mini-cmp is required to be a member of the marching
band. It is here that techniques are
taught for the upcoming marching season.
You will become acquainted witht the proper manner of glide-stepping,
low marching, vocal commands, and many other fundamentals that will be used
during the course of the season. It is
also a week to start getting your body in good physical condition so that less
injuries and fatigue occur at band camp.
BAND CAMP
Another one of the long standing
traditions of the JDJ Band is band camp.
Each August, the entire band membership, along with staff and adequate
chaperones, go to camp for six days.
The importance of this week to the success of the band is
immeasurable. In order to participate
in marching band, attendance at band camp is mandatory. It is at band camp that the fundamentals of
marching learned at mini-camp are reiterated, and the particulars of this
year’s competition show are taught and polished. Most importantly, the feelings of fellowship and spirit are
instilled in the band membership that will carry us to the end of the season
and ultimately last a lifetime.
